This highly visible position will be responsible for leading our US Client Marketing Team for iShares across the U.S. Financial Advisor, End Investor and Institutional Investor audiences.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of the strategic thinking, growth marketing and functional channel expertise needed to help transform and lead our marketing department. We seek an innovative and data-driven individual able to iteratively test along the entire funnel, to ultimately craft strategies that will lift key metrics.

This person will be tasked with direct oversight and management of two distinctive teams – the iShares Integrated Client Marketing Team and our iShares Content Engine.  With oversight across these two teams, he/she will coordinate effective and strategic scaled distribution of iShares content across our owned channels. Additionally, the successful candidate will play a critical role in driving connectivity across paid, owned and earned channels through partnership across the organization to deliver cohesive client experiences as part of broader marketing activations and/or campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership:
    • Responsible for all US client marketing across all client types, working in close partnership with senior leaders across Marketing, Sales, Investment, Strategy, Product, and Global Markets.
  • Strategy:
    • In close collaboration with internal stakeholders, develop and socialize an integrated marketing distribution and content strategy that helps drive commercial impact tied to our business priorities. Strategy should be amplified through other distribution channels, such as paid, earned through working in close partnership with those teams.
  • Content Engine:
    • Help transform our content engine team, which helps amplify iShares through timely ETF and market content. Establish and build a marketing content strategy that spans across client segments and marketing distribution channels with an emphasis on differentiating the format, tone, and messaging of content. Partner with investment teams, portfolio construction experts, and relationship managers to tailor commercial content to each unique segment.
  • Distribution and Integrated Marketing:
    • Build iShares brand amongst existing clients and engage new, untapped investor bases – without primary reliance on traditional field sales distribution. Be creative and heavily engaged with dramatically expanding distribution, leveraging both cutting-edge digital tools, web and content to engage and drive leads.
  • Digital Experiences:
    • Generate actionable sales leads by distributing tailored yet digitally scalable content.  This will require leveraging BlackRock’s digital platform, driving strategy to gather and understand BlackRock’s client data, and creating analyses to identify key target growth clients and design customer journeys that support effective lead generation with the given population. Develop a robust process to evaluate and qualify leads prior to engaging sales coverage.
    • Design experiences to accelerate business growth and deepen client relationships through scaled events and targeted thematic marketing campaigns.
  • Analytics/Measurement:
    • Track and analyze key metrics for measuring impact of marketing tactics; make data-driven decisions to direct marketing strategy and regularly communicate findings with stakeholders.
    • With a growth marketing lens, analyze full funnel, consistently using data to inform and appropriately pivot strategy to ultimately drive flows.
  • Management:
    • Manage and mentor direct and virtual team, building high-visibility platform for team members to develop into marketing leaders. Manage and build a diverse team of marketers across specializations including traditional client programs, digital marketing, and lead generation/performance marketing.


  • Industry Expertise
    • 15+ years of experience in financial services, channel marketing and/or directly relevant role
    • Strong commercial market awareness, client acumen and intellectual curiosity
    • Digital marketing expertise – across user journey, UX, digital content
    • Growth Marketing expertise
  • Leadership
    • Proven track record of working with leadership, peers and managing talent
    • Ability to build strong, content-based relationships with internal and external partners
  • Project Management
    • Driven and self-motivated with the ability to own and execute on a range of initiatives at once
  • Communication
    • Ability to clearly articulate vision, strategy and plans to all levels across the firm
  • Strategy
    • Strategic thinker with excellent written, quantitative and analytical skills
  • Technical Skills
    • Bachelor’s degree (MBA or CFA a plus)
    • Series 7, 63 required (or acquired shortly after joining) Series 24 preferred
